Basically everything natural is being cited as a superfood these days but this one is definitely in my top ten! If you’re following me you should probably know by now that I have a super sweet tooth and this helps me indulge without leading me astray from my goals. See below why cacao will make you glow from the inside out!
Benefits:
The first point i’m going to make is that raw cacao is an aphrodisiac (what can I say, sex sells!) and can brighten your mood. It contains anandamid,  which actually induces euphoria and phenylethylamine which is a mood enhancer. So if you’re feeling blue and you’re an emotional eater, you could try adding some cacao to some greek yogurt (and a little stevia if the cacao is too strong for your tastebuds) for a low cal, guilt free treat which could actually have the potential to cheer you up.
Antioxidants: Seriously, who doesn’t love antioxidants? Antioxidants protect our body from ageing and disease caused by free radicals. Who needs botox when you can load up on delicious antioxidants?  Raw cacao contains up to four times the antioxidants of traditional cacao powder, and has the highest antioxidant value of all the natural foods in the world.” Scientists from Cornell University in the US recently discovered that raw cacao contains nearly twice the antioxidant content of red wine, and up to three times the antioxidant content of green tea.
Fabulous Hair, Skin & Nails: Cacao is a great source of sulphur which is associated with strong nails, shiny hair (and also a healthy liver and pancreas). I have to say, being a not-quite-so-natural blonde, I put my hair through a lot of trauma with the bleaching process and since using cacao regularly have noticed a significant difference in my hair strength!
Low in calories: 1 Tablespoon is about equal to only about 10 calories! So you can curb that chocolate craving easily without worrying about exceeding whatever your calorie intake is.
Some of the ways I eat it include, as I mentioned above mixing with greek yoghurt (if you want, you can add berries or nuts as a topping), mixing with cottage cheese, in a smoothie, in baking - there are so many options with this flexible powder!
